Black? White? Polka dot?

I'm sure we all know about the George Floyd situation in this time in life, right now. I haven't actually shared my thoughts on this yet, so here we go.

I do not see this as a white man killing a black man problem. Now wait, hear me out first. All my life, I was taught that skin color doesn't matter. For me personally, I've never thought there was a difference between people because of skin color. They were just... people.

Now, for this situation, yes, there probably was some racism going on between the police officer and this man, but the reason I'm not all fired up over 'black people being attacked', is because I personally, see it not as a white man killing a black man, I see it as a man killing a man.

I do not partake in the BlackLivesMatter movement, or the BlackOutTuesday thing on Instagram, because honestly... what's it going to do? We're all joining a trend of 'supporting black people', but how is it going to change things?

I'm just a very straight forward kind of person. Is my black image on my Instagram account going to do anything to stop the hatred between people because of skin color? Most likely not, so why do it? Why not do something that's a little more realistic and helpful, by, one: seeing what it is that black people are wanting. Do they want to be treated just like everyone else? or two: maybe writing to your state government or putting together a petition to abolish some rule that keeps black people from getting the same rights or doing the same thing as white people.

Honestly, why does there have to be differences? Aren't we all human beings? We all have the same bones beneath the same epidermis (the skin). We all have brains. We all have hearts. We all have blood that runs red.

So why are we divided? Ask yourself this, and then look into what you can do. It can look like the simplest of things, but as long as it actually does something. You could even just set aside a certain amount of time each day, to pray for what's going on in the world. Prayer is our most powerful weapon! Use it!
