As I get older and T R Y to be a responsible adult, I'm leaning that routines and plans are good things to have. I'm not much of an organized person, but I can see how they come in handy if you do have a schedule for your day.
The other day, I got up at 6:20 so I could be up when my brother-in-law dropped off my nephew so we could babysit him that day. I had that early morning time all to myself, and after making a cup of H I G H L Y caffeinated coffee, I plopped myself down on the couch, turned on some music in my earbuds, and got some school done. Granted, I was exhausted at the end of the day, I was still able to see how having an early start on your day can be helpful. If I got up early, I could get maybe half my school out of the way so I'd have time in the evening for family. Or I could do an early morning workout so I'm not rushing to get dinner chores done and workout in the dark at the end of my day.
Even just starting your morning with some quiet time and a good cup of coffee or tea (I love both), can relax you, and just be an all around good start to your day. Include your Bible reading in your morning will be starting off on the right foot. You're putting on that armor of God that you'll need as you go throughout your day. The devil will try to shoot his arrows of anger, frustration, jealousy, impatience, and much more at you, but if you start off the battle of the day by putting on your armor, and taking hold of your sword for the day (a verse that sticks with you maybe, or a verse you're memorizing), then you can withstand the fiery darts that will come your way.
Use that quiet, early morning to prepare yourself for what's ahead. We never know what may come in a day. I started off one of my days super great, and then ended up being in my first wreck later that morning. As I said, you never know what might come.
So, with that being said, early mornings are the best mornings. Prayer and time spent with God are the best things to do to start your day.
Another thing I do to help me wake up in the morning, and a lot of people say to do this in the morning, is washing my face with a warm Norwex face cloth, and then once my face is clean, I rinse my face, the water getting cooler little by little. It closes your pores after the warmth opens them and cleans them out, and this is super important if you're going outside and it's chilly. It also helps you wake up. Another thing, is drinking a big glass of cold water. Not only does it help you wake up, it's good for you!
Please, please, P L E A S E, eat breakfast. Even if it's only remotely healthy oatmeal, you need to have something in your stomach to start the day. A good healthy, but relatively easy, breakfast idea, is a bowl of oatmeal (a serving size is a cup), and two fried eggs. You're getting protein, and then important fibers from your oatmeal. If you doctor up your oatmeal in anyway, just make sure to go easy on the sugar. ;P
So, early morning, spend time with God is super great, if that's not something you believe in, I still encourage you to look into it, or go do a workout. :) Wash your face and drink some water to help wake you up, and E A T A G O O D B R E A K F A S T!
I know this isn't a super detailed or laid out post, but I hope that it encourages you to maybe start having more early mornings, and start growing by these little starts of waking up. :)
Oh, one more note: when you wake up MAKE YOUR BED.
